Greenish blue above, silvery grey below; blackish blotch on upper opercular margin; caudal fin yellowish (Ref. 3197). Adult males with 3-8 central dorsal and anal filamentous rays; LL with 17-29 scutes.
Adults inhabit coastal waters of the continental shelf (Ref. 5213, 7300).
