Indo-West Pacific: offshore islands in the western Indian Ocean and from Bazaruto, Mozambique northward. Also known from Western Australia (Ref. 49596) and Japan (Ref. 559).

خارهاي باله پشتي (کل) : 7; شعاع نرم باله پشتي (کل) : 11; خارهاي باله مخرجي: 1; شعاع نرم باله مخرجي: 13. Yellowish in color, with white saddles and faint brown spots above; anal fin with dusky tips; chin black (Ref. 2798).

Sand-dweller, occurs in areas where freshwater streams ran dead in beach sand (Ref. 4343). Generally found with Kraemeria samoensis Steindachner, 1906. Rarely in brackish water (Ref. 559).
