Western Pacific: Hakodate, Hokkaido to the East China Sea. More recently reported from Malaysia (Ref. 5756) and the Chesterfield Islands (Ref. 11897).

Attains 18 cm SL.

Produces an offensive odor upon capture (Ref. 559).
