Duri punggung (Keseluruhan (total)) : 4; duri punggung lunak (Keseluruhan (total)) : 9; Duri dubur: 0; Sirip dubur lunak: 9. Infraorbital canal with no short downward branch at anterior part.. Preopercular spine straight, with an antrorse process at base, 2 to 9 very short upward process on inner side. Second dorsal fin with many small dark spots. Lower margin of anal fin black. Attains 18 cm SL.
Produces an offensive odor upon capture (Ref. 559).
