Spine dorsali (totale) : 33 - 36; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 7 - 8; Spine anali: 2; Raggi anali molli: 25 - 27; Vertebre: 48 - 49. This species is distinguished from all other species of the complex by the form and position of the dorsal-fin crest, in which the three spines of the crest of males are subequal in length, whereas in the other species the first spine (first two spines in C. arborescens) is longer than subsequent spines (Ref. 92305).
