This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: body without spiny tubercles or fleshy papillae (weak if present); anterior three mandibular pores each with a barbel-like tube; interorbital and suborbital pores are usually present; opercular flap rounded; ventral disk with many papillae; caudal-fin is relatively short, 19.5-31.4% of SL (Ref. 115553).
