Etymology: Haplochromis: Greek, Haploos = single + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Richard B McConnell was Officer in Charge of the Fisheries Department at Lake Rudolf (now Turkana). He was honoured for the assistance he gave to the Lake Rudolf Research Project team. He married (1953) Rosemary Lowe (q.v.) (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
