Etymology: absaberi: Named for Aziz Nacib Ab’Saber, whose contributions represent a landmark in the knowledge of geography, ecology and geomorphology of the Brazilian territory.
Eponymy: Charles Frederick Hartt (1840–1878) was a Canadian geologist, palaeontologist and naturalist, who was a member of the Thayer Expedition (1865–1866) to Brazil, a country in which he was a specialist. The type locality, ribeirão São Mateus, is a small creek with sand bottom, clear water and about 1.0-2.0 m wide and 0.5 m deep. Also collected from rio Passa Cinco, a relatively large river about 5.0-10.0 m wide and 1.0-2.0 m deep, with fast flowing clear water with sand in the bottom and stretches with rocks (Ref. 94714).
