Etymology: Haplochromis: Greek, Haploos = single + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Artaxerxes (d: 424BC) was a King of Persia (465BC–424BC). He was also known as Longimanus (‘long handed’), and the cichlid was named with reference to its long pectoral fins. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
