Dorsale stekels (totaal) : 7; Dorsale zachte stralen (totaal) : 16; Anale stekels: 1; Anale zachte stralen: 16 - 17; Wervels: 26. This species differs from its congeners in having scales on the cheek and operculum, and with the first dorsal fin of males shaped like a horse’s mane (Ref. 84007).
