Épines dorsales (Total) : 8; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total) : 16; Épines anales: 3; Rayons mous anaux: 14; Vertèbres: 23. This species in distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: a conspicuously deep lower jaw with a strongly concave profile, sharply pointed ventrally (vs. slightly concave or straight lower jaw profile); black dorsal-fin marking is restricted to the anterior edge of the fin, with some scattered melanophores in the dorsal-fin membrane (vs. a large blotch over a larger area on the dorsal fin or an no markings) (Ref. 75067).
