Africa: upper reaches of Blyde River, Limpopo system, eastern Transvaal, South Africa; previously known from the Treur and Sabie rivers.

Found mainly in small pools and behind rocks in flowing runs of clear mountain streams. Feeds on aquatic invertebrates, particularly insects. Co-exists with the small amphiliid catfish Amphilius natalensis (Ref. 6465). Breeds in early summer, with both sexes developing small tubercles on the head.
在清澈的山地溪流中之小水流中主要發現於小的水池與在後岩石了。 吃水生無脊椎動物, 特別地昆蟲。 與小的 amphiliid 鯰魚 Amphilius natalensis 共存。 (參考文獻 6465) 繁殖於初夏, 隨著雄魚與雌魚在頭部上長出小瘤。
