Rayons mous dorsaux (Total) : 11 - 12; Rayons mous anaux: 11 - 12. In both sexes, specially in females, are peculiar combination of speckled and barred sides, Body shape rhombic; snout acute. Dorsal fin of female overlaid by melanophores, with 2 - 3 distal and 2 - 3 basal spots, parallel to body, seldom with hints of posterior ocellus as seen in pupfishes.
