Etymology: Bathyraja: Greek, bathys = deep + Latin, raja, -ae = a ray (Raja sp) (Ref. 45335); pseudoisotrachys: In as much as this species has been currently been misidentified as B. isotrachys, the Greek prefix pseudo (=false) is added to the species name isotrachys (Ref. 6797).
