Spine dorsali (totale) : 30 - 32; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 6 - 8; Spine anali: 2; Raggi anali molli: 22 - 24. Pelvic fin rays thick, finger-like, reaching about halfway to anus (Ref. 9002). Variable from almost black to yellow-brown; adults with silvery-white blotches in series anteriorly on sides (Ref. 9002).
Found mostly in kelp (Ref. 9002).
