Etymology: Parapercis: Greek, para = the side of + Greek, perke = perch (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Dr Donald Martin Dockins (1930–1975) was a zoologist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. He was described as “the intrepid captor of many of the type specimens” in the Juan Fernández Islands, Chile, (1965). (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
