Distinguished from a similar species Richardsonius balteatus by having less anal rays (8-9, rarely 10), longer snout, more slender body and less slender caudal peduncle (Ref. 86798).
Body shape (shape guide): fusiform / normal.
Adults occur in margin of lakes and all types of stream habitats but usually in pools and slow runs (Ref. 86798). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
