Blenniiformes (Blennies) >
Clinidae (Clinids)
Etymology: Clinus: Greek, klinein, kline = sloping and bed, due to the four apophyses of sphenoid bone (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Alexander Thomas Wood (1872–1957) was a friend of the author who owned a cottage which Smith sometimes used as a base for fieldwork. Although the original text carries no etymology for the binomial, it seems likely that this is the person intended. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
