Épines dorsales (Total) : 40 - 45; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total) : 2 - 4; Épines anales: 2; Rayons mous anaux: 28 - 31. Juveniles whitish with dark longitudinal stripes which become faint in adults; adults with light-edged dark ocellus on shoulder (Ref. 5496).
Found in tide pools and subtidal areas.
