Spine dorsali (totale) : 0; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 13 - 14; Spine anali: 0; Raggi anali molli: 15 - 17. Body iridescent silver in color (Ref. 3980). Slender body, caudal peduncle strongly compressed, extremely short. Photophores with a bronzy rim. Barbel pale, bulb and filaments yellowish (Ref. 37473).
Inhabits deep oceanic waters to more than 1,000 m depth (Ref. 4783). Meso- and bathypelagic (Ref. 58302).
