Found in brackish water and mangrove swamps, pools and lagoons from the Tana river delta (Kenya) and probably the Rufigi river delta in Tanzania (Ref. 3788). Successfully kept in the aquarium and even bred, albeit extremely difficult to keep (Ref. 31267). Not a seasonal killifish (Ref. 27139).
