Prefers fast-flowing upper reaches of rivers (Ref. 96588) with rocks and small boulders (Ref. 105400). Also found in residual pools (Ref. 78218). Mouth and dentition suggest that it is a bottom feeder and algal grazer; probably spawns more than once per year (Ref. 96588). Oviparous (Ref. 205).
