Africa: present in the rapids of the lower Congo River (Ref. 78218). Possibly only known from the type locality near Inga hydroelectric dam and near Gombe (or Ngombe), about 20 km downstream from Kinshasa, Lower Congo River (Ref. 3236, 42510).

شعاع نرم باله مخرجي: 6 - 7. Eye small, decreasing in relative size with growth; occipital processus widely separated from first interneural bone; juveniles as well as adults bluish on the back and sides, with a darkened area in front of the dorsal fin (more noticeable in juveniles); undersides of head and abdomen pale, and edges of upper and lower caudal fin lobes whitish (Ref. 42510).
