Etymology: Tylochromis: Greek, tylos = callus + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335); sudanensis: Named by Daget (1954) presumably in reference to the middle Niger localities he sampled in the French Sudan; the French term "soudanienne" (Soudan) is anglicized by Beadle (1974) and Lowe-McConnell (1975, 1985) as "soudanian" (Ref. 52346).
Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Écologie
; eau douce benthopélagique. Tropical; 18°N - 5°N
