This is one of the smallest and hardiest species in Lake Tanganyika along with Pseudosimochromis marginatum (Ref. 6770). Known from sandy and rocky areas (Ref. 7343). It is very intolerant of any other rockgrazer, less so of the other species, and very territorial and aggressive toward its conspecifics (Ref. 6770). It cleans off a patch of ground between rubble to breed (Ref. 6770). Females brood their young in the mouth (Ref. 86760).
