Etymology: Catostomus:Greek, kata = down + Greek, stoma = mouth (Ref. 45335); murivallis:Name 'murivallis' from the Latin words 'murus' and 'vallis', meaning 'wall' and 'valley, in reference to the type locality of the species, Wall Canyon. A noun in apposition.
