Etymology: Rhynchocypris: Name from Greek 'rhingcho-' meaning rostral and 'cypris' or 'Kýpris' for the goddess Aphrodite (Peyman and Jalal, 2011); deogyuensis: 'deogyuensis', i.e., refers to its occurrence in Deogyusan National Park (Ref. 132779).

It has a narrower interorbital width (22.7-27.6% HL), a smaller eye diameter (21.3-26.2% HL), and a greater caudal peduncle depth (10.1-13.6% SL). There are 12-15 scales above the lateral line. A black transverse bar is present on the first unbranched ray of the dorsal fin. The lower of the two yellowish longitudinal bands along the lateral body is interrupted and lacks sharp definition. The blackish dorso-lateral body is adorned with numerous silvery-white spots.
