Vértebra: 172. This species with 4 large dark blotches along lateral line from mid-trunk to posterior tail is distinguished by the following set of characters: head 7.5% TL; tail 58% TL; dorsal-fin origin is behind pectoral-fin tip, 2.7 times pectoral-fin length; teeth are small and conical, uniserial on maxilla, mandible and vomer; total vertebrae 172, predorsal 16, preanal 67 (Ref. 131479).
Collecting depth is unknown, but it was possibly collected from deep water ca. 100 m (T. Yamakawa, pers. comm., in Ref. 131479).
