Etymology: Chiloglanis: Greek, cheilos = lip + Greek, glanis = a fish that can eat the bait without touching the hook; a cat fish (Ref. 45335)frodobagginsi: Named after the diminutive traveler, Frodo Baggins, a fictional character from J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings series.

Taggstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 2; Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 5 - 6; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 5 - 7. This species is distinguished by the following characters: with a very reduced, or absent, mandibular barbels on the oral disc; mandibular teeth in one row 10-12; with two prominent papillae on the roof of the oral cavity; the short and blunt mandibular teeth are arranged in bunched rows; presence of a fleshy unpapillated ridge posterior to the mandibular teeth; eye diameter 4.2-6.5% SL; long maxillary barbels 3.8-7.2% SL; narrow mandibular tooth row 1.6-2.8% SL; distance between dorsal fin and adipose fin 14.4-21.5% SL; short anal-fin base length 8.0-10.8% SL; premaxillary teeth 36-70, scattered in three rows; narrow occipital shield 3.0-4.0% SL (Ref. 131384).
