Kurzbeschreibung
Bestimmungsschlüssel | Morphologie | Morphometrie
Rückenflossenstacheln (insgesamt) : 2; Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt) : 4; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 6. This species is distinguished by the following characters: mandibular teeth in the functional row 18; oral disc robust, its length equal to its width and covered in papillae; barbels in three pairs, the maxillary barbel originating from posterolateral region of disc, unbranched, moderate in length, 7% of SL, the lateral and medial mandibular barbels moderate, incorporated into lower lip and positioned on both sides of midline cleft on posterior margin of oral disc, and the lateral barbel 5% of SL, less than twice length of the medial barbel; long dorsal spine, its length 12.8% SL (Ref. 131384).
Collected from fast flowing river, of uniform depth with a bottom of gravel with small rocks, with very little natural structure (e.g., woody debris and large boulders) likely due to previous mining activities. The site looked natural, but it had been severely impacted many years earlier by the iron ore mine upstream (Ref. 131384).
