This small-sized moray is distinguished by the following characters: body moderately elongated; anus at mid-length of body; intermaxillary teeth in five rows; maxillary and dentary teeth biserial, the inner rows not extending to the posterior end of jaws; one branchial pore; total vertebrae 107-112 . Colouration: body uniformly brown or covered with small, pale inconspicuous blotches; the anterior nostril, oral cavity, and head pores whitish (Ref. 131362).
