Etymology: Amphilius: Greek, amphi = on both sides + Greek, leios = fat; engelbrechti: Named for Dr. Johan Engelbrecht, in recognition of his great conribution to ichthyological research and conservation of freshwater fishes in the Mpumalanga and Limpopo Provinces (Ref. 123712).
