This species species is distinguished by the following set of characters: luminous gland is short, U-shaped around anus, its length 15.0-17.6% SL; symphysis of lower jaw is not protruded; proximal radial of first anal-fin pterygiophore has concavity on the anterior surface; anus is closer to pelvic-fin origin than to that of anal fin; weakly ctenoid and cycloid scales on the lateral side of
the body; vertical line on cheek present (after preservation); scales between the first dorsal-fin base and lateral line 4; pectoral-fin rays 16-17; gill rakers 20-24 (Ref. 123726).
