This species is distinguished by the following characters: movable spine connected to the
caudal peduncle by a membrane in its adipose fin; maxillary wattle does not go beyond the mouth; first pectoral radius larger than head longitude, with 9 soft radii, six of which associated to the third radial; first radius of pelvic fin do not goes beyond the anus; pre-maxillary with three internal rows of bicuspid teeth, the outermost with 0 - 9 bicuspid teeth and 0 - 6 unicuspid teeth;
first simple radii of caudal fin short; free vertebrae 21-22; fifth cerato-brachial bone with 9 teeth in the anterior region (Ref. 126792).
