This is distinguished by the first dorsal fin with six spines in both sexes, the second dorsal fin and anal fin with one spine and ten segmented rays, 17 pectoral fin rays and preopercular pores M, N and O. There are 35-42 lateral series scales, no predorsal series scale, and 12-15 transverse back series scale.
Found in small, rapid and boulder-strewn mountain streams with rocky bottoms at altitudes ranging between 300 and 900 m asl. It is assumed to be amphidromous. The largest specimens observed was 5.68 cm for males, and 5.05 cm for females, standard length (Ref. 120563).
