Ραχιαίες άκανθες (συνολικά) : 7; Μαλακές ραχιαίες ακτίνες (συνολικά) : 9; Εδρικές άκανθες: 1; Μαλακές εδρικές ακτίνες: 8. This species is distinguished by the following characters: body slender 17-20% SL; snout long 4-6% SL; pectoral-fin rays usually 16; a cephalic sensory-canal pore pattern lacking only the IT pore; unbranched pectoral-fin rays; dorsal/anal-fin formula 9/8; fifth pelvic-fin ray 0–16% of the 4th ray. Colouration: a dark triangular spot on area of preural centrum followed by a narrow dark vertical line over end of hypural plate, the caudal fin crossed by six dark vertical bars and long naris is black (Ref. 126577).
Observed on coastal reefs exposed to significant terrigenous influences (freshwater influx and sedimentation) and from moderate to strong currents. Individuals on coralline algae and dead coral substrates (Ref. 126577).
