Spine dorsali (totale) : 7; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 10; Spine anali: 1; Raggi anali molli: 10; Vertebre: 26. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: D VI+I,10; A I,10; absence of head barbels; longitudinal scales 31; predorsal scales 10; transverse scale 9, no scales on operculum and cheek; absence of preopercular and posterior oculoscapular pores; the presence of cephalic sensory-canal pores B’, C, D, E, F, and H’; major rows of cephalic sensory-canal papillae on raised fleshy ridges along with a mainly longitudinal orientation on the cheek; some sensory papillae on side of head enlarged and fleshy. Colouration: for females, live color is mainly mottled brown while in juveniles, presence of 5 pale yellow saddles between nape and caudal peduncle (Ref. 123065).
This species is collected from a sheltered bay, usually on flat mud-bottom habitat (Ref. 123065).
