Rückenflossenstacheln (insgesamt) : 0; Afterflossenstacheln: 0. A small, compressed dogfish shark with a blunt snout, ear-shaped pectoral fins, and gill slits increasing greatly in width from front to back; cloaca area with a large luminous gland not found in other sharks (Ref. 5578). Biologie     Fachlexikon (Englisch) (z.B. epibenthic)

Probably oceanic but also near the upper slope (Ref. 5578). The holotype was caught in a bottom trawl between 457 and 640 m, a second specimen was collected in the open ocean near the surface at less than 25 m (Ref. 247, 5578). Food unknown but the powerful jaws and sharp teeth suggest that this species can take relatively large prey (Ref. 247). Probably ovoviviparous with few young (Ref. 247).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 1.0020   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00372 (0.00141 - 0.00976), b=3.12 (2.89 - 3.35), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  4.2   ±0.4 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Widerstandsfähigkeit (Ref. 120179):  niedrig, Verdopplung der Population dauert 4,5 - 14 Jahre. (Fec assumed to be <100).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low to moderate vulnerability (32 of 100).
