Radios blandos dorsales (total) : 13 - 14; Radios blandos anales: 15 - 17; Vértebra: 35. Devario micronema differs from all its congeners by the combination of the following characters: body depth 29-30 %SL; snout length equal to or greater than eye diameter; anterior half of body consisting of 3-5 irregular, vertical bars; P stripe broader than P+1 and P-1 stripes; 14-17 predorsal scales; dorsal fin with 10-11 branched rays; anal fin with 12½-14½ branched rays; a prominent, square-shaped process on posterior edge of first infraorbital; presence of danionin notch; origin of dorsal fin to hypural distance, when carried forward, reaching to reaching posterior border of eye; pectoral fin, adpressed, just reaching origin of pelvic fin (Ref. 118056).
Found mainly in well-shaded areas of shallow, slow-flowing streams (Ref. 118056).
