Etymology: Rivulus: Latin, rivus = stream (Ref. 45335); pivijay: Named for the village Pivijay, south from the Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta, Magdalena Department, Northern Colombia where the species was discovered. The name Pivijay is known also as the local name of the 'Small- leaf Rubber' plant: Ficus benjamina Fam. Moraceae, that is known from this area. This species was distributed among hobbyists under the field code: COL 2008-28 - Rivulus species 'Pivijay'..
