This species is distinguished by the following characters: usually without any cephalic pores, but always lacking the POP, IT, AOT, NA pores, and the PITO, AITO, and/or SOT pores may be present; dorsal/anal fin-ray formula of 9/8, some pectoral-fin rays are branched, the fifth pelvic-fin ray long, 50-74% of fourth pelvic-fin ray; without a dark spot at preural centrum nor an occipital spot; the first dorsal fin is not dark (Ref. 109221).
Collected from fringing reefs, with silty coral rock and rubble bottom (Ref. 109221).
