In Lake Victoria, confined to shallow water over sandy beaches in both sheltered and exposed areas (Ref. 4983). The stomachs of the specimens which were examined contained bottom debris (sand grains, plant fragments, diatom frustules and blue-green algae) together with remains of both larval and pupal insects (esp. Diptera & Trichoptera less frequently Ephemeroptera); also mollusks (Ref. 558).
