Etymology: pojeri: The species name is dedicated to Dr. G. Pojer (Ref. 89080).
Eponymy: Dr G Pojer was a Belgian scientist who made a collection of fish in the area of Albertville (now Kalemie) on the western side of LakeTanganyika. We have found no more biographical information. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

Dorsal spines (total): 3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9 - 10; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 5 - 6. Diagnosis: Labeobarbus pojeri differs from L. caudovittatus in absence of dark bands on the caudal fin and in the well ossified last unbranched dorsal-fin ray (Ref. 93587).
