This species is distinguished by the following characters: cephalic sensory-pore system categorized as pattern IV or having no PITO and IT pores, and AITO is enlarged; 8/8 dorsal/anal fin-ray formula; all pectoral-fin rays unbranched; fourth pelvic-fin ray with 9 branches; caudal-fin base without black spot, body without linear dark stripes or bright yellow midlateral stripe, and eye color white with radiating reddish bars emanating from pupil (Ref. 94740).
Collected on sandy slopes, coral patches, and lagoons (Ref. 94740).
