Anabantiformes (Gouramies, snakeheads) >
Badidae (Chameleonfishes)
Etymology: Badis: 'badis' is presumably a Bengali local name, possibly derived from 'bhedo' or 'bheda', but it lacks a proper reference. Probably incorrect etymology (J. Müller, pers. comm., April 2021, after information from native speakers); triocellus: Named based on the presence of 3 (three) distinct blotches on fins..
Issue
Most likely a synonym of Badis singenensis Geetakumari & Kadu 2011 (Sven Kullander, pers.comm. 03 April 2013; also in Eschmeyer, CofF ver. March 2013: Ref. 93249).
