членистые (мягкие) лучи спинного плавника (общее число) : 11 - 12; членистые (мягкие) лучи анального плавника: 8. Can be diagnosed from other species, except its only congener Pteronemacheilus meridionalis by having elongated skinfolds on the dorsal side of the second and third branched pectoral-fin rays in males. Differs from Pteronemacheilus meridionalis by having the dorsal midline without pigmentation (vs. bars or saddles across dorsal midline) and usually 8 + 8 branched caudal-fin rays (vs. 9 + 8) (Ref. 87201).
Found in a fast flowing stream about 4-10 m wide and 0.5 m deep during late dry season. The stream has substrate consisting mainly of stones up to 60 cm diameter (Ref. 87201).
