Etymology: Pseudochromis: Greek, pseudes = false + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335); erdmanni: Named for Mark Erdmann of Conservation International, Indonesia, who collected the type specimens. Mark has worked closely with the second author for the past six years and is responsible for numerous new discoveries, resulting from his deep scuba collections from the East Indian region, including several new pseudochromids (Ref. 87199).

marin récifal; profondeur 20 - 66 m (Ref. 90102), usually 45 - 66 m (Ref. 87199). Tropical; 2°N - 0°N, 127°E - 131°E
Pacific Ocean: Indonesia. Known only from north-eastern Indonesia, from North Sulawesi to Papua and extending southwards at least to Ambon (Ref. 87199).

Épines dorsales (Total) : 3; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total) : 25 - 27; Épines anales: 3; Rayons mous anaux: 13 - 14. A species of Pseudochromis with the following combination of characters: palatine tooth patches inserted medially behind vomerine tooth patch; large dark grey to black spot on posterodorsal corner of operculum; pale blue curved bar behind eye; and anal fin without broad dark distal stripe (Ref. 87199).
Solitary or in pairs around low coral outcrops (Ref 90102). Maximum depth from Ref. 087199.
