Μαλακές ραχιαίες ακτίνες (συνολικά) : 9. This species is distinguished from all its congeners by the having a dark blotch on the base of the first five branched dorsal fin rays, ii,9 dorsal fin rays. It differs from K. pasco in having 2 teeth on the maxillary (vs. 5-6), 5 scale rows between the lateral line and dorsal fin origin (vs. 7) and by the 2-2.5 scale-wide dark longitudinal band from gill cover to the tips of middle caudal fin rays. It is further distinguished from all other Knodus species in its absence of a distinct dorsal fin blotch (except Knodus chapadae, Knodus meridae, Knodus mizquae, Knodus moenkhausii, Knodus savannensis, Knodus tiquiensis and Knodus victoriae, and by the distance from the snout tip to dorsal fin origin 46.8-49.2% (vs. 49.1-60.0% in all other species). The new
species is distinguished from K. meridae, K. mizquae, K. savannensis, K. tiquiensis and K. victoriae by the dorsal fin base length (13·9–14·8% v., 7·7–13·5%). It differs further from K. chapadae and K. moenkhausii in having 7 cusps on the maxillary teeth (vs. 5) (Ref. 85071).
