الأشعة الظهرية الناعمة (المجموع) : 8; فقرات: 37. This species is characterized by the following: D ii,8; A ii,9; pectoral 14; pelvic 8; lateral line scales 27-29; 37 vertebrae; dentary teeth 14-15 tricuspids, 29-34 conical teeth in inner row (Ref. 83638).
Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Occurs in clear waters with boulders and sandy substrate. Associated fauna and flora include: Hoplias malabaricus (Moncholo), Brycon fowleri (Sabaleta); (Characidium fasciatum (Mazorca); Hemibrycon velox (Sardina); Inga densiflora (Guamo); Cecropia peltata (Guarumo); Alocasia macrorhiza (Bore); Carludovica palmata (Anacuma); and Calathea lutea (Bijao). Captured individuals with mature ova (Ref. 83638).
