Raios dorsais (total) : 10; Raios anais : 7. Can be differentiated from all its congeners by the following characters: oral sucking disc large with posterior edge reaching vertical of anterior margin of eye; snout with small tubercles; body depth more than 17.2% SL; mid-ventral region anterior to pelvic-fin insertion scaleless; snout rounded, not projected; prepectoral length 16.3-18.3% SL; interorbital width 52.5-60.9% HL; head length 17.5-20.6% SL; head depth 13.2-14.2% SL; anus to anal-fin origin distance 25% posterior end of pelvic-fin base to anal-fin origin distance (Ref. 75176).
Prefers to inhabit fast-flowing water of limpid streams with cobble substrate. Reported by local people to feed mainly on algae and occasionally on aquatic plants and larvae of aquatic insects (Ref. 75176).
